Old bush vines- this wine from a single\u003cbr\u003evineyard (over 112 years old), with tiny crops and berries are harvested by hand then crafted with\u003cbr\u003eminimal intervention to preserve the characters. The vintage provided an opportunity to do a 100%\u003cbr\u003ewhole bunch, carbonic maceration style as the bunches achieved rachis lignification.\u003cbr\u003eAfter the ‘Cab Mac’, a short traditional fermentation followed with the wine then matured in larger\u003cbr\u003eformat seasoned French oak puncheons (400L) until final assemblage . Time in barrels was around\u003cbr\u003e15 months with a short rest in tank to preserve freshness.\u003cbr\u003eThis wine is our 7th release and showcases the region of McLaren Vale and its old vine legacy.\u003cbr\u003eWith some care, decanting is recommended to allow the wine to breathe and display the interesting\u003cbr\u003echaracters that a single site provides. This 2022 wine is the 31st release.\u003cbr\u003eFruit for this vintage again comes from a single vineyard planted in 1910 in McLaren Flat, grown by our friend Pino! Rich,\u003cbr\u003econcentrated fruit was handpicked then traditionally fermented before being put to seasoned oak barrels to finish fermentation\u003cbr\u003eand then mature for 28 months. Barrel selection is made for site expression.\u003cbr\u003eThis wine has long term potential which will augment the savoury fruit characters expressed by this terroir in McLaren Vale.
